Gold and silver plated brass beads mixed with sunstone, moonstone, and labradorite stone beads lead to a look that is simply stunning! Fredane has worked for Vi Bella since February of 2013. She commutes to work in Port-Au-Prince from Simonette, a small beach village north of the city. Before her job with Vi Bella, she sold groceries in open-air markets around her area. She ran out of business after the earthquake of 2010 and a friend recommended her to Vi Bella. She says, "My work has helped me a lot to take care of my family. It has helped to support my 4 childrens' education." Fredane has a sweet, welcoming spirit that makes her a wonderful leader on the Vi Bella team.

HOPE has always been at the forefront of the Grain of Rice Project mission of empowerment as they are Helping Overcome Poverty with Essentials. Given dignified employment opportunities, members of their artisan team are able to earn an income that allows them to meet basic family needs like food, rent and school fees which is equipping them and as a result, their families, to overcome the struggles of poverty.

IMPACT: Made with love in Kenya ♥ The HOPE Bracelet Set are made by artisans with Grain of Rice Project, a non-profit ministry that empowers artists and children living in the Kibera slum with the love of Christ by helping them become self-sufficient through employment, education, and skills training. Kibera is the largest slum in East Africa with more than 235,000 people living in a single square mile. Life in Kibera is difficult with no running water, open sewage and many surviving on less than $1 a day. Grain of Rice Project works to provide opportunities to people in Kibera to help them overcome some of their hardships. They strive to do small things to empower people that will add up to make a big difference in their lives and will in turn spill over and make a difference in the lives of others around them. Handmade by a local artisan cooperative in the Kibera slum of Kenya.
