Share the love

Good morning! Sorry, I am lacking in the posting department these days, but I just can't seem to drag myself away from this:

As much as I love writing and sharing, I am loving these little snuggles and moments even more.  Lately, as I have been smothering this little lady in kisses, I can't help but think about all the kids and infants who aren't as lucky, who don't have a single parent or person oooohing and aaaahing over them, tending to their every need, dreaming about their future and all their possibilities.  I hate thinking about the sad and harsh truth that this doesn't happen for so many kids.  Even for the children who do have loving parents who dream of a different future for their children, the reality of the conditions (social, governmental, economic, etc.) that they live in often makes these dreams near impossible. I received the awesome inforgraphic below the other day called “The Kids Aren’t Right”, created by Healthcare Administration Degree.  It is a great visual reminder of the inequalities that exist in the world and just how lucky we are to have been born in the United States.  It is interactive so click around on the map to see important factors in a child’s life, including mortality, fun & culture, safety, freedom, GDP, and vaccinations and how each country ranks. Produced By Healthcare Administration Degree Programs There are some rough places to live, especially if you are a girl.  Looking at this map really makes me want to know what I can do to make a difference??? I know there are so many options but my favorite is child sponsorship for two reasons:

1) It is proven to be effecitve

Research done at the University of San Francisco shows that sponsored children "are more likely to graduate both secondary school and college, have salaried employment, and be leaders in their communities."

2) It is personal-

You get a visual reminder - the face of a beautiful child - of the difference you are making.  For me child sponsorship is so beautiful because it takes these statistics and makes them real by giving them a face and giving us a personal relationship with them.

So if you are looking for a different way to share the love this Valentine's Day check out sponsoring a child!

If you don't already have a sponsor child check you can work with any of these three companies to get one - Compasssion, World Vision, Feed the Children
