Noah's Ark International Exports is a fair trade handicraft marketing organization in Moradabad, India. Noah's Ark provides benefits such as education and medical treatment for artisans and their families. As artisan businesses become more self-sufficient, Noah's Ark takes on new families. Since the company's inception, about 20 artisan workshops have become independent. Noah's Ark started in 1986, in one room of a family house in Moradabad. Businessman Samuel Masih observed that exporters and middlemen were taking advantage of handicraft artisans. He started Noah's Ark to promote these artisans and their crafts.

DESCRIPTION: This lovely wooden nativity scene is 3" tall (the largest figures) and carved by hand from pine wood by a Guatemalan artisan. Each figure is painted with unique, colorful floral patterns. The set is lightweight but sturdy, meaning it should last you for many years. The dark forest green robes have bright flowers painted on them so that the sets are fun and bright. The figurine of baby Jesus comes separately from his crib because the Guatemalan tradition is to hide the baby and only put him out in the crib on Christmas Eve.
The artist who crafts these nativities always makes unique patterns; each set is one-of-a-kind and therefore the perfect Christmas collectible. Each nativity scene has 9 pieces: Mary, Joseph, baby Jesus, the crib, the three wise men, and the kneeling cow and donkey. The cow's ears and horns can be removed for safe storage. *Please note that these small pieces must be kept out of reach of very small children, because they may be a choking hazard.*

They use a machete to carve out the shape of the hut, then refine the shape, carving out the interior.
